I am unfortunately not going to be able to play in the Stamp Simply Challenge today. I have my family here for my brother who is getting married on Saturday, so I didn’t get to be able to finish a card at all. I had this project waiting in the wings for Monday that I am sharing with you now though so you all aren’t bored! I am in {heart} with this one. I would have photographed them with Christmas lights and all, but I obviously don’t have them up yet, so I mocked up one of my fireplaces just a little.
This Christmas garland are lovely felt mittens which holds my children’s Christmas pictures throughout the years. I backed the felt mittens with papertrey cardstock and sewed with ribbon and then put onto clothespins. I added some ribbon in between the mittens to tie each set together. I have included a word document of the mitten pattern for you to cut out and trace onto your cardstock. This was such a rewarding project for me as a Mom. I just love seeing all of those memories strung proudly in my house. It gives me the warm fuzzies!
So here is what you need including the step by step instructions:
Mitten Template: mittentemplate
Two pieces of 8.5×11 felt of your liking
Trace template onto felt and thick card stock. I use Papertrey Ink White Cardstock.
Cut out patterns on felt as well as cardstock.
Sandwich cardstock and felt together (I used mono multi as my adhesive)
Sew as desired or skip the sewing and attach ribbon (My trim was from Webster’s Pages and was so perfect for this. They can be found HERE) with red lined tape. This will work just fine. Add embellishments. Those snowflakes were found in the Joanne Fabrics dollar bin and I added a self adhesive pearl in the center.
Attach Clothepins to the back of the mitten with red line tape pretty far down the mitten so the clip will be close to grab the picture.
I used some nestability dies to attach my pictures onto and added some buttons. This gives the pictures a nice sturdy feel and look so they will not become damaged over time from the clothespins.
I will be donating this set (minus the pictures
) to my cousin who asked me to help her out and donate to her craft table to benefit helping adoption. She has the most incredible heart and the biggest family to prove it!
Have a wonderful day friends!! Hope you try this rewarding project!
