Damask Designs
It is so amazing to see the excitement of Dawn revealing her new stamp set! We are all a buzz about it and are reveling in her joy with her! It was also so rewarding to work with it in so many different ways. I did two major projects with it so far, and today I will show you one of them!
This WAS one of those “I know it all so well” unfinished frames from Michaels. Finished, this looks like it could come straight from a store, and it was SO easy! The best part about it is the fact that if it isn’t perfect, it will look even better! Nothing like the look of French country to relax your nerves when trying something new. SO here is what you do. Very simple steps!
#1: Paint the unfinished frame a dark color. I used Deco Art Lamp Post Acrylic Craft Paint. Do two thin coats. It dries quickly.
#2: Prepare the painted surface with your Embossing Buddy from SU! (or whatever you use to make sure your embossing powder won’t stick to everything) Using the large Damask Pattern from Dawns set, I stamped it onto the painted frame using versamark ink. Stamp all of the designs at once. Versamark is a SLOW drying ink, so you will be fine…just keep it moving in a timely manner.
#3: Pour your Filagree Clear Detail Embossing Powder over the stamped areas. Tap off excess. Heat with heat gun.
#4: When cool, grab a couple of dry paper towels. Using a lighter color paint (I used Deco Art Sand) Brush on in vertical lines then wiping most of the paint off with your paper towels immediately. This will leave you with a distressed look.
I finished the frame off by sanding down the edges to distress them a bit. Then I matted a picture of my girls on True black and Ocean Tides cardstock. It is now proudly displayed on my bookshelf in my office. Sure do hope you try this. This is such a wonderful set to use for your home decor! Can’t wait to show you some more!
