The Littlest Among Them

I can’t wait to share how you can really bring your small stamps that may lie neglected in you CD cases to life!  Here is a little project you can do with minimal effort but a big wow factor.  You will only need a few simple supplies to make this sweet choker.  For boys, leave off the choker and use the bottle cap magnets for school lockers!

What you will need (links are in bold): A 1 inch circle punch, 9 bottle caps, a stack of magnets (any magnets will do really, just make sure they are not too thick. A button from the Papertrey Vintage Button Collection which has a ribbon slider on it. A washer.  A hot glue gun, some tombo metal to paper glue (or you can use crystal effects or anything like that.) Some Papertrey Ribbon (I used Hibiscus Burst Twill), a Hinged Tin and the stamp sets I have listed below.

First go through your Papertrey stamps and collect you favorite stamps that may have circles, small images and small sentiments.  My Favorites?  Sweet Love, Simply Stationery, Boxes Bags and Tags, Little Lady, Paper Tray, Birds of a Feather, Mixed Messages & Around and About Sentiments.  I stuck to four colors (New Leaf, Summer Sunrise, Hibiscus Burst and True Black) for my color scheme.  This kept the look cohesive, but really, you can do however many colors you want.  So stamp your images and punch them out.  Then using the tombo metal/paper glue, adhere the image into the bottle cap.

Then using your hot glue gun, carefully glue the magnets to the backs of the bottlecaps.

While your glue gun is still in hand, put a thread of glue around your button and adhere your washer to the button.

When everything cools and is dry, thread your twill through the ribbon slider.  You could also use a flexible cording that is waterproof if you would like.  I made these for light use.

Assemble your newly crafted bottle caps and choker in a windowed tin for perfect gift giving.  A perfect way to change your necklace everyday and decorate your locker.  Even let your kids trade them with friends.

Sophie loves it!  How about you?

  25. This is brilliant! I wonder if you might give me permission to write a post about your post on my stocking stuffer blog some time in the near future? It would be kind of a summary of your post (using one or two of your images to illustrate) with direct links to your post, of course. Is this something you would be comfortable with? (If not, no hard feelings!!!!)
