Scrap-tastic Challenge!

Happy New Year!  I hope all of your family time over this holiday season has been wonderful and happy!  I hope you all got some rest and relaxation and are ready for this great new year!

Our Sr. Team challenge this month was to get creative with the scraps we have leftover from other projects!  I actually have a basket where I throw all of my scraps until it gets so full I need to re-designate them to the appropriate folders.  I have hanging folders for my cardstock colors, so that is easy.  They just go into the folders.  Also, since PTI makes their patterend paper bound in book format, those too are easy to store in regard to scraps.  One of the girls on the forum even made a great envelope on the back flap of the patterned paper book to hold the scraps!  Genius!  When the basket gets super full I will pay Emma five dollars to sort them all out for me!  The best five dollars ever spent, I tell you!

So here is my first idea when it comes to scraps!  Use your different sized circle punches to create this great wreath, and then take some scrap leaf ribbon and wrap it around the popped up circles!  Great fun for scraps!

This idea is super simple and fun.  Best of all the cutting is so easy, because when you are working with patterned paper that has a grid or grid-like pattern, you can perfectly measure the boxes and lines!  So simple!  This whole border consisted of about a 3×3 square of Bitty Box dark chocolate paper and a 3 x 2 piece of Autumn Abundance patterned paper.  Just laid out the strips and put more strips on top of the  other strips.  Easy fun, and could be limitless when it comes to making patterns.

Here are some more strips of scrap Orange Zest card stock and Bitty Dot Basics patterned paper.  Some punching of the patterned paper breaks up the orange strips and makes a fun border for this birthday card.  Top it off with orange glitter, and this card will be perfect for any kid’s birthday!

Great cards Becky, I especially love the little wreath card, and the colours on the cupcake card are just so much fun!! I keep all my little scraps, even little thin strips of patterned paper or cardstock that I’ve stamped and I try to incorporate these on my cards regularly – there are a few recent examples on my blog that prove this! I believe that even the smallest scrap can be put to good use if you try!

    Happy New Year!

I love your ideas especially the clever wreath. I even have some of that ribbon that I haven’t used! I see some cards in my future and since Valentine’s Day is coming up I think I’ll try hearts instead of circles. thanks for the inspiration.
